Let Inventory Network Help You Move Slow-Going Inventory

SEDA has partnered with Inventory Network, LLC to help you find buyers for your slow-moving inventory. Response to the program has been phenomenal since it was introduced in January. Dozens of distributors are using Inventory Network, and major manufacturers such as Kimberly-Clark and Best Glove use the service as well.  One satisfied SEDA-member commented:

"In 2002 we sold $12,000 worth of inactive stock on Inventory Network, so far in the first 10 weeks of 2003 we have sold $20,000! This has been a great way for us to free up cash from non-moving inventory.  In 2002 we purchased $12,000 on IN at great prices. So far in 2003 we have bought $20,000 at about a 10-15% savings.   When it comes to dead stock, we are happy when we can sell it at .80-.90 cents on the dollar and pay freight.  With IN, when we look at what we buy below cost, we probably make a few dollars each month and get rid of our dead stock!!  What a great deal! Our buyers use IN daily to make fill in orders and buy normal stock at special prices.  IN has become an important and profitable vendor for our business."

Here are some advantages offered exclusively to SEDA members by Inventory Network:

SEDA membership vs. Standard membership:

SEDA members who join Inventory Network for $250 receive a $50 credit that will be applied to their first purchase.  SEDA members that participate in the purchasing side of the program can expect to save approximately 7%.  Once a SEDA member has reached a $7500 purchasing plateau (in one membership year) they will receive a 1% rebate (in form of a credit) to be used towards future purchases.  This is not offered to any other member or organization.

Financial advantages, listing products with Inventory Network:

A membership with Inventory Network creates a new opportunity for a distributor to sell their undesirable inventory.  IN’s goal is to buy their product at 90 cents on the dollar.  This offers a financial benefit to the distributor when compared to the standard 15-25% restocking fee if the product actually qualifies for a return.  In reality most requests for product returns are denied for various reasons such as full case quantities.  We do not have a full case quantity rule, and therefore we provide the distributor a realistic opportunity to sell items that would not qualify for a return.

Financial advantages, purchasing products through Inventory Network:

There is a tremendous opportunity for distributors to save money purchasing through Inventory Network.  Distributors can expect to save at least 7%, no freight, satisfaction guaranteed.  This is a great opportunity for the distributor to use the network to fill back orders and restock at a lower price point.  This allows the distributor to improve their customer service while taking advantage of the opportunity to place a much smaller order.

IN has had great success in selling product.  For example, they have sold large quantities of the following items far below normal distributor cost.

  1. Tyvek coveralls #1417XL:  1000 cases sold at $50.00/case normally $65-70

  2. 3M 8293:  560 cases sold @ $60-70 per case, normally $88-$90

  3. 3M 8210:  over 8000 boxes sold below $7.25, normally $8.25/box

  4. North 28-00-05 earplugs, 2600 boxes sold at $8 or lower, normally $9.

Many distributors shop the Inventory Network website on a regular basis.  The savings accumulate over time, creating a tremendous investment opportunity for the distributor.  Inventory Network puts the savings opportunity where it belongs, with the distributor.  In a sluggish economy an extra 7-10% in profit is incredible.
