About
“Safety Wins”
Safety
Wins held its first session at the Daytona International Speedway in
February 2004. To-date drivers from 129 of the nation’s leading
organizations have successfully completed this unique educational
program at NASCAR speedways
The goal
of Safety Wins is to provide classroom education to professional drivers
in order to influence a reduction in the leading cause of work-related
death in the United States:
motor vehicle crashes.
Safety Wins is funded by
a Susan Harwood Training grant (Award # 46E3-HT42) through the U.S.
Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Safety Wins takes an innovative and positive reinforcement approach to
awareness and education by holding safety training at NASCAR’s most
exciting venues. Safety Wins is a cooperative project among the National
Safety Council, The CEI Group/DriverCare, Cavalier Home Builders, and
NASCAR Busch racecar driver Jimmy Kitchens. |
