Safety Week 2004, SEDA’s annual meeting and management conference, is scheduled for July 25-28, 2004 at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Safety Week 2004 will once again be a combined meeting of the major safety equipment associations: SEDA, International Glove Association (IGA), the Safety Equipment Manufacturers Agents Association (SEMAA) and the Canadian Glove Manufacturers Association (CGMA). Advanced Inside Sales, a self-study CD-based training program, is now available to SEDA members at a cost of $99 per disc. The three courses on the CD — Pricing, The Complex Sale, and Quantifiable Value-Added Selling — deal with subjects more generally associated with outside sales; however, they use tactics that inside sales or a team of inside/outside salespeople can use to increase the company’s selling effectiveness. 2004 Compensation Survey Now Available

SEDA's 2004 Cross Industry Compensation Survey is now available. The survey is a great tool to help business owners establish a fair and adequate compensation system for employees. It draws data from more than 3,000 wholesale distribution firms in 25 commodity lines. The survey is free to members who participated. Companies that did not participate can purchase a copy for $250. New DOL Overtime Rule Takes Effect August 23

On April 23, 2004, the Department of Labor issued final regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) implementing new, updated regulations covering the exemption from minimum wage and overtime pay for executive, administrative, professional, outside sales and computer employees. (69 Fed. Reg. 22122). The final rule is scheduled to become effective on August 23, 2004. DETAILS
